This 175 sq. m. two-family vacation house is being built close to an existing building of the ‘70s. In order not to confront the existing building, the whole new volume was designed considerably low, being located partly into the ground. The house’s two floors are identical, containing each one of them a dinning area, a kitchenette and a living room in an open area, two bedrooms and a bathroom. There is also an independent basement with supplementary spaces and a small guestroom. The new building is shaped by a continuous concrete “folder” made of concrete with large openings to the view towards the sea and the Athos Mountain, while a protective “skin” of semi-transparent wooden shutters enhances the building’s sustainability. The area surrounding the new house has been redesigned with new pavement and landscape in order to create a welcoming background for both the two buildings.
